The setup

Sofia cheers Jake on before a work conference, with pancakes, a kiss and a promise of dessert when he is back. Minutes after he leaves, he texts that a friend will drop off a new graphics card and can handle the installation. The friend, whose name the pilot never gives, shows up at the door, and Sofia welcomes him in like any good hostess. In episode 2 he finishes the job in Jake's office, and Sofia announces a workout right there and tells him to carry on. The job gets done. Then Sofia is suddenly nowhere to be heard.
