The setup
A woman starts therapy to stop thinking about the man staying at her mother's place, who also happens to be her stepsister's fiance. In the first session she describes what she keeps seeing in her head, and the therapist asks her to explain what happened. The answer is a drive through pine country along a route her stepsister Rachel recommended, a calm, scenic and loaded ride. Back home, Rachel asks how it went and mentions that stepsisters share everything, cars and roads included. In episode 2, the story returns to a fogged shower door, a conversation she overheard and a night after dark she can't make sense of, while the therapist coaxes her to start from the dark.
Why people keep watching
The hook is the framing: a confessional session where the listener may be part of the plot. Everything is told in memory, so the free episodes keep to whispers, drives and doors left open, and the unease carries the heat.
