Her Stepmom Is the Boss

The setup

Jake was job hunting, and his girlfriend knew somebody: her stepmother, Margot Vey, who runs the whole floor like a general. At the first meeting she clears the room and keeps him because he is the one person willing to tell her the numbers are wrong. By evening she is suggesting he stay late. His girlfriend texts, he promises to be home soon, and the office goes quiet. Episode 2 turns up the temperature. He tells his girlfriend he's working overtime, which is accurate in a way. Margot locks the door, answers the girlfriend's call about whether he's behaving with perfect sweetness, and reminds him who runs the floor.

Why people keep watching

Office politics in a velvet glove. Margot knows his girlfriend's schedule and enjoys making him choose between loyalty and a promotion. The free episodes keep to long stares, closed doors and one very polite phone call.

Tune in if

Good for fans of boss-and-subordinate power games who like their tension polished, quiet and always one phone call from disaster.
