Under the Chief

The setup

Harriet is on the final night of her probation at the hospital. The head nurse, Vanessa, wants her gone, and the chief of surgery has taken notice of her, which is a lot to absorb during a quiet shift. When Vanessa predicts the new hire won't survive until morning, the chief replies that she'll be with him instead. They head to the only calm spot on the ward, and Vanessa is told to see that nobody interrupts them. Episode 2 opens afterward with Harriet mortified that she swore at the chief on her last night; he says he liked it. Out in the hall, Vanessa grows impatient, mutters that he's merely teaching her things and asks if he's still in there.

Why people keep watching
