Old Friends, New Sins

The setup

Over dinner, Niko confides to his best friend that his business has collapsed, which his girlfriend, Dasha, has yet to hear. She is the kind of woman who is expensive to maintain. When Niko's card is declined, the friend steps in and pays, hero of the evening. Dasha is intrigued: she tests him with barbed lines about what she is worth, and he answers calmly that a woman has to earn his money. In episode 2, after the ride, his calm keeps working on her, and Niko, worn out and grateful, insists he stay the night. The guest wing, as Dasha points out, is very private.
