My bestie betrayed me

The setup

Emma tracks down her boyfriend Ryan and finds him upstairs with her best friend Mia, and the pilot ends on a half-finished, hopeless excuse. Episode 2 opens on the aftermath: Ryan pleads that Mia was drunk and came on to him, swears it meant nothing and begs Emma to hear him out. A new voice asks if she is all right after the night before, while another voice tells her a scene would be pointless, since no one would take her side. Emma finally turns to Mia, hands Ryan over and tells her he is exactly what she deserves. It is a betrayal between adult friends, and the cruelty lives in the small lines.

Why people keep watching

It plays like a revenge drama with the brakes off: two betrayals at once, a friend who will not own it and a heroine who has to turn shock into strategy. The free episodes stay with the confrontation and its fallout.
