The setup

The world ended, and for three years this man has hunted for proof that he isn't alone, only to find that every other man is gone. Then a patrol finds him instead. Hundreds of women live behind walls in a place they call Eden, and they hurry him off to meet their queen. The pilot is mostly a welcome speech: he is precious, he is safe, nobody touches him without permission, and his room has a lock for anyone who wants to sleep alone. Episode 2 opens with that lock unused and the queen sitting in his room, polite, unhurried and charming about it. She explains why she came: if the species is going to continue, every woman in Eden gets a turn.
