YES, DIRECTOR

The setup

A staff meeting goes badly. The Director, who runs the office floor, blames the team for the losses and spots one man looking at her instead of the numbers. She wants to know if he cares about staying employed. He does. Her husband owns the place and has a short fuse for mistakes, she says, and she offers him a way to stay that has nothing to do with email. In episode 2 she phones her husband to say she is staying late, then makes the employee present to her alone in the office after hours. She expects obedience: he stays at attention, answers each order with a respectful yes, and finds that every wrong move earns him extra work.

Why people keep watching

Power is the entire show: the boss is married, the boss is untouchable, and the employee is replaceable. The pilot costs nothing, and the free part sticks to dress codes, deadlines and the occasional dare.
