Behind on Rent

The setup

Jake is broke, jobless and a few days from an eviction. His landlady, Vanessa, makes it clear she never wanted the rent money anyway, and she offers him a different way to settle up. It works, at least until Mia walks in. Vanessa's daughter takes one look at the new tenant, does the math and says she'll keep quiet if he gives her the same treatment. Episode 2 makes the building crowded. Two landladies, each sure she's the only one collecting, while Jake dodges texts, invents excuses and tries to keep Mia quiet with her mother downstairs. The lease was supposed to be his only problem.

Why people keep watching

The tension is in the arithmetic. Jake owes one woman money and another his silence, and the staircase between them is thin. The pilot needs no login, a free account opens the second episode, and both keep the bargains hinted instead of shown.

Tune in if

Tune in if you like trouble domestic and bargains questionable: a bad lease, a worse secret, two landladies who each think they're in charge.
